Hello everyone, and welcome to the Life Unfiltered Blog! This blog will be focused around lifestyle content which could include health/wellness, fashion, family, cooking and more. For years now, my favorite social media content has always been lifestyle. Especially during the pandemic, this content has brought some normalcy to me. I find it so fun to be able to continue to keep up with people around the world even though we are mostly still stuck at home!

Get to Know Me!

My name is Allana Jaussen. I am an Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) student at SRU, with a minor in Business Administration, and this is the start of my senior year! I am 20 years old. My hometown is Hadley, PA. I lived in Hadley my whole childhood and didn't move until I moved to the Butler County area for college. I now live here in Slippery Rock! I also attended BC3 for my first year of college. My hobbies and interests include traveling with my husband (hopefully again soon), ministry within my church, reading, drinking lots of coffee, and I love to cook! I am also very interested in learning graphic design and sound production.

As a communication student at SRU, we are required to take the course I am writing for right now - New Media Journalism. For the course we are required to create and maintain a blog. We will use the blog as well as, Facebook and Twitter to dive deeper into learning about Journalism, and how it is evolving.

I named this blog "Life Unfiltered" because I want this to be a place where we can talk about anything. So much of our media now is "filtered" whether it is with actual photo filters, or just content that isn't truly showing real life. This semester I plan to use this blog to make a space on the internet that is real and completely unfiltered!

As I stated before, journalism and the news is constantly changing. Today, our the news has taken over our social media platforms, which is where I typically see the news first. When I am not using social media for news I typically read The New York Times. I have always read, or listened to The New York Times podcast, because they seem to be one of the more accurate and interesting to read news outlets. If I am looking for local news, I typically read The Butler Eagle or WXPI Pittsburgh. Some other digital forms of news that are go-to's of mine are E News or Buzzfeed. I typically go to these outlets for entertainment purposes.
